I am Brock Shively, and I do this for a living.
By day I am a senior systems engineer at a managed service provider. I am the escalation point above the technicians. I am responsible for thousands of endpoints and hundreds of switches and access points across healthcare organizations working under HIPAA, cities, police departments, enterprises and small businesses. Networking, identity, Microsoft 365 and automation are the work I do all week. I have worked at several managed service providers, first as a technician and then as an engineer, and the network side of that means Ruckus, Aruba, Meraki, Cisco and UniFi, plus the patch panels and in-wall cabling behind them.
Shively Systems is my own practice. It exists because the organizations I meet usually have a help desk or an MSP and nobody senior to call. The person you meet is the person who writes the quote, does the work and hands over the documentation.
I scope on a call. I send a fixed written quote within one business day. I do the work remotely, myself, with no handoffs. You own every script and configuration when I am done, and I walk through it with whoever runs it after me.
